Short Term Rental:
We need to enforce the ban we already have. If we can figure out how to coordinate code enforcement, law enforcement and community policing, then maybe we can finally effectively enforce the other bans we have in place, like public smoking, polystyrene and single use plastics.
Undergrounding of Utilities:
Fair, Inclusive and Transparent is the only way forward as we re-examine undergrounding in El Porto. Previous council set the unfair standard of 50%. I would fight to restore the 60% threshold that was fair enough for the rest of the city.
Technology:
Technology is the foundation of communication with many of our newer - as well as our older - residents. As a communications professional, I support our technology department as it is and would expect them to play an even bigger role in communicating with residents about sustainability issues int he future.
Sustainability:
I'm the only candidate with a strong message of sustainability. #ASAP - as sustainable as possible - reminds me every day to make the small decisions that will add up to a sustainable future for our city.
"Joseph has quickly immersed himself in our town with a cheerful, optimistic passion and authenticity. He consistently exhibits these attributes through his civic engagement and volunteerism on behalf of our community while being responsible, thoughtful, purposeful, fair, inclusive and open minded."
Chris Conaway, former MB Planning Commissioner
"I have known and admired Joseph for several years; how he relentlessly juggles entrepreneurship, activism and family to fulfill his goal of playing a bigger part in our community. His heart is perpetually in the right place and his head is brimming with future-proof ideas that will help propel MB forward while respecting its grounded history and beach vibe."
Lauren Guttierez, Manhattan Beach Resident
Hello Neighbor,
I am running for Manhattan Beach City Council because it’s time for our city
to get FIT – Fair, Inclusive, and Transparent and start working in the best
interests of our residents, not special interests. It is time to usher in a new
era of open government and institute a culture of best practices which will
instill a new level of confidence in our elected officials.
Two years ago, I ran for City Council on a platform of Values, Experience and
Vision because I share the values of our community and believe my decades of working in and around government at the Federal, State and local levels would help us achieve our shared goal of a sustainable future while still respecting our rich cultural heritage as a small beach town. I still stand behind that credo and in fact, believe it even more.
My long history of serving my community ranges from charity fundraising event committees to sitting on Boards of Directors, Boards of Trustees and national Boards of Governors. Since moving to Manhattan Beach, I have continuously given my time to many worthy organizations. As the campaign unfolds, I look forward to sharing my vision for a better Manhattan Beach and hearing your thoughts on the issues that are important to you.
I believe my leadership abilities and experience will bring a fresh and vibrant perspective to the workings at City Hall and ask you to please vote Joseph Ungoco when you mail in your Absentee Ballot or vote on Election Day.
Respectfully,
Joseph
